Featured Expert Facilitator:

Future Leaders Incubator is thrilled to welcome Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) expert and dear friend of FLI, Debra Fuentes, PhD. During her time facilitating this introductory progressive mathematics PD, Dr. Fuentes will introduce CGI, an approach that helps teachers understand the ways in which children invent strategies to engage with arithmetic. This approach allows teachers to understand the ways children approach numbers and provides them with knowledge to guide stronger math instruction. This session is perfect for new teachers, teachers wanting intentional strategies that work for their classroom, and those that need a refresher in CGI!

“All of this PD was helpful. Truly every minute.” – Mallory, Achievement First (Previous CGI 101 Participant)

The wonderful world of math. For some adults, the very word “math” elicits avoidance in eye contact. Possibly cringing. Ultimately, shutdown. However, what if we could instill a love of inquiry-based learning through problem solving for our kids? What if students of all ages dove into a math problem, discovered diverse strategies and presented their understanding with pride? This is a reality with Cognitively Guided Instruction!

Please help us spread the word about this important virtual professional development session! Share this flyer!

Note: *Participants are required to have the book “Children’s Mathematics: Cognitively Guided Instruction – Second Edition” for this workshop.
